Originally released in 1996 as part of the Reebok Mobius Collection, these kicks were a dramatic group of high-performance athletic shoes that share a unique design theme of continuous motion. Mobius would create a visual frequency across the brand that made a statement on courts, fields, and in gyms across the world.
This Lakers colorway of the Reebok The Blast is a nod to the California Purple and Gold, while carrying forward OG design elements that include features such as the mesh and leather upper, the unique integrated midsole-outsole and the Hexalite cushioning underfoot. The Reebok The Blast Lakers is also said to be a nod to Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Van Exel, a former brand athlete that regularly wore The Blast during the mid-late 1990s.
