Since its inception in 1998, the Nike Mercurial soccer boot has been revered for its sleek, track spike-inspired design, engineered for cut-and-strike speed.
To celebrate its historic value, the silhouette has been treated with the label’s signature “What The” motif, which essentially blends sixteen of the model’s most memorable colorways into one — a few of which are showcased in the gallery above, including the 1998 Mercurial Vapor, 2012 Vapor VIII, 2013 Vapor IX, 2010 CR Superfly II and Superfly IV BHM.
Exhibiting a time capsule of its history overall, in total, 18 colors from previous iterations are melded together, which is the most colors the Swoosh has ever used in a football boot.
Extremely limited to only 3,000 pairs, the silhouette will also be packaged in a dust bag and special box with the retrospective color mashup on the inside.
Look for it at select Nike accounts starting May 5th.
