The Nike Book 1 Ashen Slate pays homage to Devin Booker’s life journey. The insoles of the shoe houses a barcode that features significant numbers such as jersey number and the zip codes of Grand Rapids and Phoenix. Additionally, his family’s initials are placed on the inside of the tongue tag. Dressed in a Light Carbon, Football Grey, Summit White, and Safety Orange color scheme, the sneaker boasts an upper that is constructed out of both soft textiles and nubuck overlays. The design of the upper consists of perforations along the ankle collar, nylon lining, Safety Orange accents on the tongue branding and tonal Swoosh branding on the side panels. A personal element on the sneaker is the “96” on the heel pull tabs representing Devin Booker’s birth year. Speaking of the heel pull tabs, you will see that it comes with additional layers in white, as a way to mimic the pages of a book. When it comes to the tech on the sole, it features midsole with an Air Zoom unit, Cushion 2.0 foam, and a midfoot shank. The design is rounded out with a semi-translucent outsole.
