The Nike Air Rift will be available in its original colorways of Red/Green/Black and Purple/Yellow/Orange for $100, starting May 4th at select Nike retailers globally.
Initially introduced in 1996, as well as making rare appearances back in 2011 and 2013, the sneaker/sandal hybrid, Nike Air Rift is relaunching once again for Summer 2015.
Though not heavily advertised or marketed, the Nike Air Rift prioritizes natural motion. Essentially inspired by the barefoot style of Kenyan distance runners, the shoe’s overall design also took cues from Kenya’s topography, with the silhouette’s distinct characteristic defined by a split-toe construction.
Comprised of a moisture absorbing and breathable textile-engineered mesh upper, perfect for the warm season, the sneaker/sandal hybrid’s distinct split-toe is reinforced by a flexible natural motion outsole that provides enhanced traction. Additional support is evident by two velcro closures on the heel and midfoot.
