With an all-white pair revealed during Louis Vuitton’s fashion show during Paris Fashion Week last month, the Kim Jones x NikeLab Air Zoom LWP is now officially unveiled in its three inaugural colorways.
Essentially a design that takes inspiration from the upper of the Air Zoom LWP from 1995, which is noted as the first running shoe to incorporate Zoom Air cushioning, the model has also been revamped with the last of the Air Max 1, also noted as one of Jones’ favorite silhouettes from the Swoosh.
“I like the fact that it has come from an old shoe but has become a completely new shoe,” Jones said of the updated tooling. “It took quite a few tries to get it right. At first it was too chunky and then it was too skinny. I was thinking about a shoe that I would really like to wear and be proud of.”
Furthermore, Jones added that the particular colorways of black/volt, black/white, and black/purple were inspired by the Air Max lineage as well. “All the colorways come from old Air Maxes—there’s an Air Max 95 colorway and one from a classic, original Air Max, then we added another color palette that was looking at the future.”
If you’re interested in purchasing either pair, you can find the range of footwear, alongside an exclusively designed wind runner that features water-resistant woven fabric that can be rolled into a pouch for easy packing at select NikeLab locations starting July 23.
