Another variation of the J. Crew x New Balance 997 is unveiled this summer, as this latest pair is dubbed, “Moonshot.”
As its official moniker suggests, the popular runner celebrates the anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 mission (July 20, 1969), which was the first spaceflight that landed humans on the Moon, led by American astronauts — Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
Essentially resembling the shade of the moon, the sneaker is treated in off-white with hints of dark grey and navy across its mixed material upper consisting of suede, leather and breathable mesh. All adhered atop a crisp white midsole unit, the limited edition pair will come packaged in a vacuum bag which represents the food that the astronauts eat while in space.
Priced at $210, you can purchase the model at select J. Crew and NB stockists on Wednesday, July 20th, the very same day of the moon landing 47 years ago.
